A Durable Solution for Road and Pavement Repairs

A department of transportation official in one Midwestern state has been testing MONO-PATCH™ Cold Set All-Surface Repair from USG Corporation Industrial Products since 1998.

The product features a revolutionary chemical setting process that was developed in conjunction with Argonne National Laboratory. As the product sets, it hardens from the center out to the edges, delivering a high early strength of 3,000 psi after three hours.

The state's ongoing experiment with MONO-PATCH has brought encouraging results. Not only does MONO-PATCH set faster than other quick-setting products, but also it seems to hold better. Of all the patches that have been put in since 1998, the state DOT official says that 75 percent are still in place.

"I think that's really good," he said. "There are some days where it's below freezing, and we're out mixing this off. We go back and we find it's still holding."
