USG CALCIUM SULFATE
(CAS-20-4) PROVIDES HIGH-PERFORMANCE, COST-EFFECTIVE TiO2 EXTENSION
Anhydrous calcium
sulfate (CAS-20-4), from USG Corporation Industrial Products, is an
exceptionally high-quality, cost-effective TiO2 extender that is
ideal for use in thermoplastic color concentrates and other high-volume
TiO2 applications. The product, an extremely white, finely
divided particulate filler made from high-purity gypsum rock, delivers superior
whiteness and opacity characteristics, as well as excellent weathering
resistance. According to recent USG test results, L, a
and b color readings do not decline measurably when CAS-20-4 is used in
10- to 25-percent increments as a TiO2 extender in color
concentrates for high-density polyethylene. Likewise, the effect on opacity was
minimal (less than 0.1 percent reduction in opacity). Similar results are
achieved in color concentrates for high-impact polystyrene. "The
results of these tests clearly demonstrate the outstanding whiteness and
opacity optical characteristics that CAS-20-4 delivers," said Susan Dichter,
marketing sales manager for USG Corporation Industrial Products. "Its
brightness, narrow particle size distribution and non-abrasive properties make
it an ideal TiO2 extender." CAS-20-4 is available in
50-lb. bags and typically costs less than one-fifth the price of
TiO2. To obtain a free copy of USG's TiO2
