USG To Manufacture
and Market Own Brand of Premium Poured Gypsum Flooring
Underlayment
USG Corporation
Industrial Products has introduced a line of premium poured gypsum flooring
underlayment products under the LEVELROCK® brand name.
All
products in the line offer outstanding compressive strength and fast
installation times of up to 30,000 square feet per day at an economical cost.
In addition, they will accept virtually all floor coverings, including vinyl
composition tile, ceramic tile, marble, glued-down hardwood and carpet.
The new LEVELROCK gypsum flooring underlayment products include:
· LEVELROCK Brand Floor Underlayment 2500 - Poured as a fire and
sound barrier on wood frame structures, this product will set the standard for
the future direction of gypsum flooring underlayments.
·
LEVELROCK Brand Floor Underlayment 3500 - Ideal for both residential and
commercial applications, it can be used as an upgrade in hard-surface areas in
residential projects or as a topping to correct uneven floors in commercial
applications.
· LEVELROCK Brand Floor Underlayment 4500 - One of
the highest-strength gypsum flooring underlayments on the market today, it is
ideal for floor corrections over concrete substrates.
·
LEVELROCK Brand Floor Underlayment RH (Radiant Heat) - A high-strength gypsum
floor specifically designed for use over radiant tubes, it provides an
efficient thermal mass to maximize the effectiveness of the system.
Poured gypsum flooring underlayment systems are typically installed
over wood or concrete subflooring, providing an economical way to achieve
lightweight, fire-resistant and sound-rated floor systems in residential,
commercial and institutional construction. Installation of gypsum flooring
underlayment is frequently less expensive and less labor-intensive than many
other types of underlayment, while achieving the high fire ratings for which
gypsum systems are known.
With the introduction of LEVELROCK's
higher-strength product line, poured flooring underlayment products can now be
used in an even wider variety of applications, including dormitories,
hospitals, shopping centers and offices.
"We were an early innovator in
the gypsum flooring underlayment business and are a leading manufacturer of
gypsum underlayment products for several suppliers," said Dennis Socha,
marketing manager for USG Corporation's Industrial Division. "Developing our
own line of branded products will enable us to leverage the well-respected USG
name and reputation in this growing market category."
Other specific
benefits of LEVELROCK poured gypsum flooring underlayment include:
· Produces a lightweight, level and crack-resistant slurry that
is thinner and weighs less than cellular concrete floor systems without
negatively impacting critical performance criteria.
· Minimum
recommended dry compressive strength outperforms that of cellular concrete.
· Higher-strength products are available to accommodate high
load design requirements of more than 5,000 pounds per square inch.
· Flooring systems using LEVELROCK underlayments qualify for
both one- and two-hour fire resistance ratings from Underwriters Laboratories.
USG will sell LEVELROCK products directly to flooring applicators. The
company has hired ALCORP Marketing, Inc., headed by Ben Allen, to recruit,
train and service a network of qualified applicators. Allen has more than 17
years of experience in the flooring underlayment industry. USG will continue to
serve its existing flooring underlayment customers.
