Natural, High-Calcium Gypsum Landplasters
Ensure
Superior Productivity, Higher Profits for Peanut Growers
Natural,
high-purity gypsum landplasters from the Industrial Products Division of United
States Gypsum Company provide a superior combination of calcium content,
solubility and application efficiencies for healthier, more productive peanut
yields and higher profit margins for peanut growers.
The company's BEN FRANKLIN® 420
Landplaster, USG 500 Landplaster and
Ben Franklin® Bagged Agricultural Gypsum
deliver the highest levels of calcium in the industry, ensuring best-possible
seed quality and germination. They are 150 times more soluble than limestone,
enabling pods to easily absorb needed calcium while minimizing yield-reducing
problems such as pops, rot and darkened plumules.
BEN FRANKLIN 420 Landplaster and USG 500 Landplaster are both manufactured in
variable particle sizes, ranging from approximately 1/4" to dust. This
ensures that peanut crops will receive consistent nutrition from initial
pegging through maturity. The smaller particles are readily dissolved and
absorbed by the pods, while the larger particles supply crops with calcium and
sulfur in a "time release" fashion throughout the growing season.
Non-toxic and ecologically safe, these natural gypsum landplasters actually
improve soil structure by minimizing surface crusting, and increasing water
penetration and aeration. Due to their high calcium content and consistent
spreadability, they cover more acreage and spread more evenly that other
calcium sources.
"While the material cost for natural gypsum landplasters is higher than
alternative calcium nutrients, that expense is more than made up for by savings
in material usage and reductions in time, labor and fuel expenses," said
Bill Babcock, product marketing manager with U.S. Gypusm Company.
BEN FRANKLIN 420 Landplaster is made from quarried anhydrite
(CaSO4) and gypsum (CaSO4 2H2O). It delivers
almost 20 percent more calcium than competing products and is sold in bulk from
U.S. Gypsum's Norfolk, Va. plant.
USG 500 Landplaster delivers exceptionally high calcium and sulfur
content. Its crystal surface and shape help improve flowability and contribute
to faster calcium release. When stored outdoors the product's spreading
characteristics are not adversely affected. Even when exposed directly to
moisture, it does not "clump" and remains readily spreadable. It is
available at Elizabeth River Terminals, Chesapeake, Va. and Marine Port
Terminals, Brunswick, Ga.
Like 420 Landplaster, BEN FRANKLIN Bagged Agricultural Gypsum contains
almost 20 percent more calcium than competing products. It is applied by a
bander or drop spreader and is sold in 50-pound bags from U.S. Gypsum's
Norfolk, Va. plant.
